Issue
Previously as a subspecies of Gadiculus argenteus Guichenot, 1850. Synonym of the latter in Eschmeyer (CofF ver. Oct. 2012: Ref. 92135) following (Mercader & Vinyoles, 2008).

Over muddy bottoms. Spawns in spring. Important prey for several commercial fish.
Oviparous, sexes are separate (Ref. 205).
