Espinas dorsales (total) : 12 - 21; Radios blandos dorsales (total) : 6 - 9; Espinas anales: 0; Radios blandos anales: 23 - 27. Snout long, tubular. Lower jaw projecting forward beyond upper one. No barbel on lower jaw. A short barbel is present on the posterior end of the upper jaw. Branchial membranes free from isthmus.
