Body depth 12-18% SL. Presence of a midlateral row of 10-17 (rarely 8-9) dark blotches along flank. Ventral adipose crest on caudal peduncle absent or less developed than dorsal one. Absence of row of small spots directly below midlateral blotches (if present, then most prominent between pelvic and anal bases). Dorsal origin above pelvic origin. Biologie     Verklarende woordenlijst (bv. epibenthic)

During daylight, adults are found burrowing into sand, sometimes in gravel on hill streams with clear water (Ref. 59043). Also found in moderate current with few plants at water depths up to 1.5 m. Have also been observed in large rivers (Ref. 59043). Spawning occurs in spring. (Ref. 59043). Population is locally threatened by habitat alterations (Ref. 59043).

Estimates based on models

Fylogenetische diversiteitsindex (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5010   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00661 (0.00340 - 0.01283), b=3.11 (2.95 - 3.27), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this species & (Sub)family-body (Ref. 93245).
Trofisch niveau (Ref. 69278):  3.2   ±0.4 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Generation time: 3.1 ( na - na) years. Estimated as median ln(3)/K based on 2 growth studies.
Weerstandsvermogen (Ref. 120179):  Gemiddeld, minimale populatieverdubbelingstijd 1,4-4,4 jaar (tm=2; tmax=4.5; Assumed Fec < 10,000).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
