Dorsale stekels (totaal) : 12 - 13; Dorsale zachte stralen (totaal) : 5 - 6; Anale stekels: 12 - 13; Anale zachte stralen: 8 - 11. In males, the pale subdistal band on the caudal fin incomplete, interrupted posteriorly, constituting a series of oval pale spots on the fin membrane while the rays are dark pigmented.

Facultative air-breathing (Ref. 126274); Inhabits slow flowing creeks among vegetation.
