Lamina circularis absent. Body depth is 9-11% of SL. Dorsal origin behind or above pelvic origin.

Biologia     Glossario (es. epibenthic)

A short-lived species which inhabits upper and middle reaches of rivers, with shallow waters and stony bottom (Ref. 11240). Feeds mainly on aquatic invertebrates (Ref. 59043). Oviparous, with distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Matures at 1 yr of age (Ref. 59043). Is threatened due to pollution, habitat destruction and the introduction of other species (Ref. 26100, 59043).

Life cycle and mating behavior Maturità | Riproduzione | Deposizione | Uova | Fecundity | Larve

During courtship, 'the male follows the female and, after both enter dense vegetation (e.g. filamentous algae), the male forms a complete ring around the female's body behind the dorsal as the female releases the eggs' (Ref. 59043).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5000   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00417 (0.00237 - 0.00733), b=3.08 (2.93 - 3.23), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this species & Genus-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  3.3   ±0.4 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Generation time: 5.9 ( na - na) years. Estimated as median ln(3)/K based on 2 growth studies.
Resilienza (Ref. 120179):  Medio, tempo minimo di raddoppiamento della popolazione 1.4 - 4.4 anni (tm=1; Assumed Fec < 10,000).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Moderate vulnerability (39 of 100).
