Western Central Atlantic: South Carolina, USA to the Gulf of Mexico and along Central America to Venezuela. Also found on middle continental slope off southern Brazil.

Moderately deep water species (Ref. 6902). Oviparous (Ref. 50449). Eggs have horn-like projections on the shell (Ref. 205).
