背棘 (總數) : 22 - 25; 背的軟條 (總數) : 23 - 27; 臀棘: 3; 臀鰭軟條: 17 - 21; 脊椎骨: 42 - 46. Dark olive green dorsally, becoming pale on sides, and silvery ventrally. Back and sides striped longitudinally with green lines and small blue dots.
Found in large low tidal pools and surge channels (Ref. 9003). Feeds on zooplankton in the water column (Ref. 120445). May be found living within soft bodied invertebrates (e.g. salps) (Ref. 9003). Juveniles probably pelagic (Ref. 48372).
