Etymology: Zenarchopterus: Particle zen, derived from zao = to give life + Greek, archos = anus + Greek, pteron = fin.
Eponymy: August Rasor was treasurer of the Frankfurt Geographical and Statistical Association that mounted an expedition (1911) to the Lesser Sunda Islands (Indonesia). (Ref. 128868), visit book page.

الأشواك الظهرية (المجموع) : 0; الأشعة الظهرية الناعمة (المجموع) : 11 - 12; شوكة شرجية: 0; أشعه شرجية لينه: 8 - 9; فقرات: 41. Upper jaw slightly longer than wide; width divided by length 0.81-0.87. A small black basicaudal spot present at end of silvery lateral band. Pectoral fin much shorter than head length; head length divided by lower jaw length 0.61-0.64. Males unknown (Ref. 10988).

Found in harbors and mangrove areas (Ref. 48635).
