Etymology: Trichomycterus: Greek, thrix = hair + Greek, mykter, -eros = nose (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Jacques Chabert is a French speleologist and cave explorer. He is President of the Paris Speleological Club. He helped collect the holotype in the Bolivian Andes. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
