Etymology: Glyphis: Tautonymous with Carcharias glyphis Müller & Henle 1839 (See ETYFish); glyphis: Greek for knife, referring to how anterior lower teeth are serrated and flare outward, arrowhead-like, before coming to a sharp point (See ETYFish).

экология
морской; пресноводный; солоноватоводный демерсальный. Tropical; 5°N - 21°S
Western Pacific: northern Australia and New Guinea (Ref. 84281).
Size / Вес / Возраст
Maturity: Lm ?  range ? - ? cm
Max length : 100.0 cm TL самец/пол неопределен; (Ref. 244); 175.0 cm TL (female)
Found presumably inshore. Largest whole specimen collected was that of a female with maturity unknown, 175 cm TL. Large sets of jaws examined indicate that size can attain up to 2 m and possibly 3 m (Ref. 76952). Viviparous (Ref. 50449). Biology poorly known.

Distinct pairing with embrace (Ref. 205). Viviparous, placental (Ref. 50449).

Estimates based on models
Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref.
82804): PD
50 = 0.5312 [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00490 (0.00229 - 0.01045), b=3.08 (2.91 - 3.25), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref.
93245).
Trophic level (Ref.
69278): 4.2 ±0.7 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
устойчивость к внешним воздействиям (Ref.
120179): низкий, минимальное время удвоения популяции 4.5-14 лет (Fec assumed to be <100).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref.
59153): Very high vulnerability (90 of 100).
