पृष्ठीय रीढ़ (सम्पूर्ण) : 10; पृष्ठीय सौफट रेज़ (सम्पूर्ण) : 11 - 12; गुदा कांटा: 3; ऐनल सौफट रेज़: 9 - 10. Eyes deep blue; the brown of live specimens fades quickly, leaving orange lines along the scale rows; sometimes with narrow dark crossbars (Ref. 3198).

Occurs mostly in shallow rocky areas, but also found down to 80 m. Flesh excellent.
