Taggstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt) : 2; Mjukstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt) : 7; Mjukstrålar i analfenan: 4. This species is distinguished from all its congeners by having very short dorsal, pectoral and pelvic fins: dorsal-fin spine length approximately equal to the distance from the snout tip to the mid-length of interorbital distance, pectoral-fin spine not reaching to pelvic-fin insertion; and pelvic-fin spine not or just reaching to anal-fin origin (vs. dorsal-fin spine length varying from equal to head length in most species to similar to predorsal length, pectoral-fin spine surpassing insertion of pelvic spine, and pelvic-fin spine surpassing origin of anal fin) (Ref. 124776).
Facultative air-breathing in the genus (Ref. 126274); Collected at the depth of approximately 30 meters over rocky bottom in areas with slow water flow (Ref. 124776).
