Épines dorsales (Total) : 5; Rayons mous dorsaux (Total) : 8; Épines anales: 3; Rayons mous anaux: 9. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following characters: body dark bluish grey dorsally and the sides are blue; head length 20.5-21.6% SL; head width 13-13.5% SL; pre-first dorsal fin length 50% SL; eye diameter 4.6-5.2% SL; postorbital length 10.7-11.1% SL; unbranched pyloric caeca are 2 short and 4 long; a pair of long (one longer than the other), spine-like neural postzygapophyse on the second vertebra. Further distinguished by having adipose eyelid not thick, not extending onto iris; upper lip very deep; corner of mouth cleft not reaching to below front nostril; body elongated and spindle-shaped; 2 dorsal fins small and widely separated (D1 IV, D2 I,8); head flattened (Ref. 119354).
