Dorsal soft rays (total): 12 - 13; Anal soft rays: 8. Capoeta ferdowsii differs from other congeners in Iran by having the following combination of characters, none of them unique: body elongate and cylindrical; one pair of maxillary-barbel reaching vertical of anterior margin of pupil; last unbranched dorsal-fin ray moderately ossified, serrated with flexible distal, 15-23 long serrae on its 40-60% of posterior margin, narrowly spaced and moderately strong; 15-18 gill rakers, 11-13 on lower limb; 23-25 scales around caudal peduncle; lateral line complete with 68-77 scales; 13-15 scales between dorsal-fin origin and lateral line and 8-9 between anal-fin origin and lateral line (Ref. 116759).
