Distinguished from other species of Sinocyclocheilus by the following combination of characters: body completely scaled with 38-41lateral line scales; vestigial eyes with only a black spot left which covered by fat; barbels short, rostral barbels 2.3-3.5 % SL, and maxillary barbel 3.1-4.1 % SL; 13 gill rakers on first gill arch; pectoral fin long, extending beyond pelvic-fin origin; eight to nine dorsal fin branched rays, last unbranched dorsal-fin ray soft with
serrations on posterior edge of its lower part (Ref. 93154).
Inhabits deep pool of a spring. Syntopic with Cyprinus carpio Linnaeus 1758, Silurus asotus Linnaeus 1758, Carassius auratus (Linnaeus, 1758), Opsariichthys bidens Günther 1873, and Yunnanilus jinxiensis Zhu, Du & Chen, 2009 (Ref. 93154).
