Differs from its congeners in Black Sea basin by the possession of the following characters: eye diameter 17-23% HL; longitudinal epithelial crests on predorsal scales; scale rows between lateral line and pelvic origin 4; scales rows around caudal peduncle 12; dorsal fin with 8½ branched rays; and anal fin with 6½ branched rays (Ref. 59043).
Found in deep waters of large rivers on sand bottom (Ref. 59043).
