Spine dorsali (totale) : 3; Raggi dorsali molli (totale) : 12 - 14; Raggi anali molli: 13. Distinguished by the following characters D1 III, D2 12-14; A 13; pectoral 24-27; the first dorsal spine is slightly longer than the second one in both sexes, but not elongate; the second dorsal fin distally slightly convex in both sexes, with the male having very short distal filaments (none in females); sides of body with a group of 6-7 short transverse streaks below the anterior portion of the second dorsal fin, with a dark saddle each before the first dorsal fin base and behind the second dorsal fin base, and a dark area on the caudal peduncle and basal caudal fin extending as a short dorsal dark stripe on the proximal one-third of the caudal fin; anterior and posterior basal sections of second dorsal fin dusky in male, the vertical fins otherwise pale (Ref. 75990).
