Etymology: Brachyrhaphis: Greek, brachys, eia = short + Greek, raphis = needle (Ref. 45335); roswithae: Named in honor of Roswitha Etzel, Cuxhaven (Ref. 42972).
Eponymy: Roswitha Erasmy née Etzel of Cuxhaven is, we believe, the daughter of the junior author; the late Dr Vollrad Max Friedrich Etzel (1944–2012) (q.v.). (Ref. 128868), visit book page.

Inhabits small rivers; adults found in schools (Ref. 42972).
