Etymology: Parascorpaena: Greek, para = near, in the side + Latin, scorpaena = a kind of fish, 1706 (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Fred McAdams of Cape May, New Jersey, of whom Fowler wrote: “…to whom I am indebted for many interesting off-shore American fishes.” We know nothing further. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
