Adults inhabit lagoon and seaward reefs from below the effects of the surge to 40 m (Ref. 1602). They occur singly or in small groups that remain close to the bottom and may feed on algae and zooplankton (Ref. 1602). Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate (Ref. 205). Males guard and aerate the eggs (Ref. 205). Diurnal species (Ref. 113699).
