Occurs in the clefts between rocks in fast-flowing sections of rivers (Ref. 50421). Leaves its cave during spring and summer to find food in the morning and at night (Ref. 50421). Stays in its cave during winter but in May or June, it is known to move out into the floodwaters to reproduce (Ref. 50421).
