Etymology: Notoliparis: Greek, noton = back + Greek, liparos = fat (Ref. 45335); kurchatovi: Named after the finder, research vessel Akademik Kurchatov, which, in turn, was named after a distinguished Russian scientist (Ref. 11892).
Eponymy: Named after the Russian research vessel ‘Akademik Kurchatov’ rather than the man behind the ship’s name: Igor Kurchatov (1903–1960) the “father of the Soviet atomic bomb.” (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
