Etymology: Hemitriakis: hemi-, from hemisys (Gr.), half, being a genus that Herre believed was “most closely related” to Triakis (See ETYFish); abdita: Latin for hidden, referring to the close external similarity of this sibling species to H. falcata (See ETYFish).
