Etymology: Haplochromis: Greek, Haploos = single + Greek, chromis = a fish, perhaps a perch (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: This is a toponym referring to Katavi National Park; the type specimens were caught from the Katuma River (western Tanzania) at the border of this park, and it is probably the only species of Haplochromis that occurs within it. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
