Eponymy: Francesco Maurolico (1494–1575) was an Italian mathematician and astronomer from Messina, Sicily. [...] Yuri Alexandrovich Rudjakov (d: 1938) is a researcher of suprabenthic plankton. Ryggkotor: 32 - 34. AC photophores 23-26, usually 23-25. Head 28.5-31% SL, eye 10-11.5% SL, upper jaw 16-18.5% SL, maximum body depth behind pectoral fin base 22-25% SL. Stomach slightly pigmented, hind part of intestine not pigmented (Ref. 26775).
