Eponymy: Dr Herbert Richard Axelrod (1927–2017) was an expert on tropical fishes, an entrepreneur and a publisher of pet books. [...] William Riese was a tropical fish exporter who helped collect the type (1964) with Axelrod (q.v.) after whom the genus is named. Thus the scientific name may uniquely honour two collectors in its two parts. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
