The genus Grammatonotus surugaensis differs from Callanthias in having 1 spine on the operculum, 13 branched caudal fin rays, and fewer scales in longitudinal series. Several caudal fin rays produced into filaments. Body orange-red; tip of spinous dorsal fin yellow. Attains 8 cm SL.
本屬 駿河藍紋鱸〔Grammatonotus surugaensis〕 有別於 Callanthias 在縱向的系列中的鰓蓋， 13個分枝的尾鰭鰭條與較少的鱗片上有 1根棘。 一些尾鰭鰭條延伸成細絲。 身體橘紅色的; 刺狀背鰭黃色的頂端。 達到 8 cm SL 。
