Etymology: Caulolatilus: Greek, kaulos = stem, stalk + Latin, latus = wide (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Frank Joseph Williams of Miami, Florida, was owner and captain of the commercial fishing vessel Argo. He caught the holotype (1975). The authors commented that Williams “…has contributed many valuable deep-water fish specimens to us over the years.” (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
