Etymology: Carnegiella: After Miss Margaret Carnegie, referring to the grace of the fish.
Eponymy: Margaret Cameron Carnegie (1897–1990) was the only child of the famous industrialist and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie (1835–1919) (see previous entry). [...] William G Scherer of the Evangelical Mission at Pebas, Peru, collected the holotype and according to the etymology provided the authors with “…magnificent help with his collection of fishes from the Peruvian Amazon”.
