Dorsal spines (total): 5; Dorsal soft rays (total): 20 - 21; Anal soft rays: 18; Vertebrae: 30. This species is distinguished by the following characters: D1 V, D2 20-21 branched rays; A 18; usually P 17; lateral line 55-57, between lateral line and beginning of D1 3.5 scales; 6 fang-like teeth on symphysis of dentalia; palatine teeth absent; gill rakers on the first arch 12-14; vertebrae 10 + 20; scales ctenoid, including cheeks and breast; last spine of D1 connected with membrane and with first branched ray along most of its length, no filiform rays in fins, a slightly elongated first ray is in the upper lobe of caudal fin; head, body, and vertical fins without dark pattern; ventral fin bicolored, black at base and along the inner margin and light distally and from outside; caudal fin grayish, its middle rays and membranes between them are blackish in the distal half, with numerous white small spots grouped into narrow transverse bands (Ref. 85566).
In the Phan Thiet Bay, it occurs together with Parapercisaff. sexfasciata and P. alboguttata and all three species were recorded from trawls jointly and in great quantity. Stomachs examined contained small fish and crustaceans (shrimps and mysids). A female specimen (11 cm SL) caught on the last dates of April has eggs at maturation stage III (Ref. 85566).
