Short description
Identification keys | Morphology | Morphometrics
Dorsal soft rays (total): 4; Anal soft rays: 4; Vertebrae: 17. Ventral surface of the disk with tubercles. Cephalic lateral line scale counts: preopercular 3; subopercular 6; dorsolateral branch of subopercular 3; supraorbital 7-8. Lateral line scale counts on body 9-10; tail 14-15. Disk relatively flat with cranium slightly elevated above surface of disk. Tail stout and tapering to caudal. Esca with skin relatively thick; ventral lobes less distinctly separated from one another relative to other species. Rostrum shelflike, overhanging mouth so that much of the rostrum, esca, and illicial cavity can be seen from ventral view. Gill rakers shaped as stout pedicels with small teeth clustered distally. Paired fins relatively large and stout; dorsal and anal fins small; anal lappet-like (Ref. 40825).
Minimum depth from Ref. 58018.
