Short description Identification keys | Morphology | Morphometrics

Dorsal spines (total): 4; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8 - 9; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 24 - 25. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of character: head 3.2-3.7 in SL; body depth 2.7 in SL; head length 3.2-3.7 in SL; orbit diameter 1.9-2.7 in HL; caudal-peduncle depth 2.7-3.3 in HL; D IV, 8-9; A III, 24-25; pectoral rays 15; lateral-line scales 51-54; scales below the lateral line 10-11; circumpeduncular scales 11-12; gill rakers 23-25. Colour when alive mostly silvery, darker from mid-body to the lateral line and greenish above; fins translucent with a darker tail; when preserved light brown to silvery with darker dorsum and translucent fins; caudal fin darker. Further, mitochondrial DNA COI sequences show a divergence of at least 4% from all Atlantic congeners (Ref. 113730).

Biology     Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)

Observed to be schooling in the very shallow waters of the rocky Parcel pools (Ref. 113730).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = No PD50 data   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.01380 (0.00591 - 0.03225), b=3.02 (2.83 - 3.21), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this Genus-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  3.3   ±0.5 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Resilience (Ref. 120179):  High, minimum population doubling time less than 15 months (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
