Siluriformes (Catfishes) >
Auchenoglanididae (Flatnose catfishes)
Etymology: Notoglanidium: Greek, noton = back + Greek, glanis = a fish that can eat the bait without touching the hook; a cat fish; diminutive (Ref. 45335); depierrei: Named in honour of D. Depierre, collector of the type specimens (Ref. 94168).
Eponymy: Daniel Depierre is the Chief Engineer of Rural Engineering and Water and Forests. [...] (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
Environment: milieu / climate zone / depth range / distribution range
Ecology
Freshwater; demersal. Tropical
Africa: only known from the Djim, a small tributary of the Mbam which enters the Sanaga downstream from the Nachtingal Falls (Ref. 81642, 94168).
Size / Weight / Age
Maturity: Lm ?  range ? - ? cm
Max length : 17.2 cm SL male/unsexed; (Ref. 3236)
Dorsal spines (total): 2; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9 - 10; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 25 - 28; Vertebrae: 47 - 50. Diagnosis: postanal region elongated, resulting in a higher vertebral count, 47-50 (vs. 36-40)(Ref. 94168). 25-28 total anal-fin rays (Ref. 81642, 94168). Distance between bases of anal and caudal fins 4.6-6.9% of standard length; pre-dorsal body depth small, i.e. 6.9-12.0% of standard length; 9-10 soft dorsal-fin rays; interorbital distance 18.2-23.7% of head length; combined premaxillary tooth plate of average width, 18.2-29.1% of head length (Ref. 94168).
