Anal soft rays: 8 - 11. Differs from its congeners by the dentigerous arm of premaxilla about 1.6-1.9 the height of ascending process (vs. 1.5 or more than 2 times that height), and the following combination of characters: quadrate-mandibular articulation at posterior half of orbit; mouth hypognathous; posterior border of maxilla at about anterior border of pupil, between the posterior border of lachrymal and anterior half of the infraorbital 2; hyoid artery piercing dorsal hypohyal; 3 predorsal bones; one supernumerary spine on first dorsal pterygiophore; 8 trisegmented pterygiophores in dorsal fin; 3rd or 4th dorsal fin spine the longest; anal fin origin slightly behind the origin of rayed portion of dorsal fin; pectoral and pelvic fins of similar length, being 60-75% HL and 70-110% body depth; 15-16 pectoral fin rays; 8-11 anal fin rays; 45-49 caudal fin rays (Ref. 55324).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5312   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.01000 (0.00244 - 0.04107), b=3.04 (2.81 - 3.27), in cm total length, based on all LWR estimates for this body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  3.6   ±0.1 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Resilience (Ref. 120179):  Medium, minimum population doubling time 1.4 - 4.4 years (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (17 of 100).
