Short description Identification keys | Morphology | Morphometrics

Dorsal soft rays (total): 10 - 11; Anal soft rays: 16 - 20; Vertebrae: 32 - 34. Lacks infraorbital bone3; the relatively high counts of anal-fin ray (13-16) and ventral procurrent caudal fin ray count (14-17) for S. broccae relative to all other species of Spintherobolus appears autapomorphic for this species.

Biology     Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)

Inhabits dark-brown swamp waters. Appears to be found in somewhat acid waters in relatively lowland areas, in both swamps and slow moving streams, but only in areas where the streams remain unpolluted.

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5625   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.01000 (0.00244 - 0.04107), b=3.04 (2.81 - 3.27), in cm total length, based on all LWR estimates for this body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  3.0   ±0.4 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Resilience (Ref. 120179):  High, minimum population doubling time less than 15 months (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
