Alestidae (African tetras)
Etymology: Alestopetersius: Greek, a = without + Greek, lestes = thief + Peters, 1877, naturalist, expeditionary in Asia.
Eponymy: E R Smykala collected the holotype. We know nothing more about him except that he collected regularly in the area round d’Aba on the Lower Niger River. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
