Etymology: Rasborichthys: Rasbora, an Indian word for a fish, also used in Malay peninsula + Greek, ichthys = fish.
Eponymy: Lieutenant-Colonel C Helfrich was an army surgeon in the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army. He was stationed on Java and sent the holotype, which he collected in South Borneo, to Bleeker. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
