This species is distinguished by the following characters: D1 X?XII, D2 I, 21-22; gill rakers of first gill arch upper 3-4, lower 7-8; periorbital length 1.4-23; eye diameter/head length 18.0-23.3; inter-orbital width/HL 16.7-21.7; snout length/HL 39.5-46.5; post orbital lenght/HL 34.1-38.9; swimbladder narrow, anterior extensions joined at the origin, diverging to terminate on the both side of the basioccipital above the anditory capsule whereas two posterior extensions penetrating into the caudal region, one usually longer than the other and presence of a duck-like process; head before the interorbital area is steep and the mouth is contracted (relative to the other six species investigated); upper half of the body pale brown to dull brown, with a light brown lower half; with a faint mid-lateral streak from the base of the pectoral fin to the base of caudal fin; dorsal fins dusky; chin covered with adipose tissue; anal fin hyaline to transparent, clear of spots; posterior head region yellowish; pectoral and pelvic fins yellowish; caudal fin dusky (Ref. 123137).
