Etymology: Pomacentrus: Greek, poma, -atos = cover, operculum + Greek, kentron = sting (Ref. 45335)yoshii: Named Pomacentrus yoshii in honour of Satoshi Yoshii, who provided the logistic arrangements for the collection of many of the type specimens. The surname Yoshii, which is spelled with a double "i" ending, is treated as a noun in apposition.
Eponymy: Satoshi Yoshii is a divemaster in the Marshall Islands who provided logistic arrangements for the collection of many of the type specimens. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
