Biology     Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)

Found in springs and spring-fed creeks and in the mainstream of Evrotas and upper main Alphios. Occurs in shallow areas, with slow or no current, close to the shore, among overhanging roots and dense vegetation. Feeds on variety of plants, insects and microcrustaceans. Attains maturity in the second year of life and spawns between mid-March and June (Ref. 52474).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5078   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00813 (0.00374 - 0.01767), b=3.10 (2.92 - 3.28), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  3.1   ±0.3 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Resilience (Ref. 120179):  High, minimum population doubling time less than 15 months (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
