Dorsal soft rays (total): 8 - 9; Anal soft rays: 5; Vertebrae: 30 - 32. Can be distinguished from its congeners by possessing the following unique combination of characters: a plain brown body, head plain brown; presence of distinct protruding secondary rostrum; absence of a postoral pouch; presence of shallow subopercular groove; gill slit vertical; presence of sublacrymal groove; a rounded snout when viewed dorsally; abdomen without scales; lateral line with 55-59 scales; pelvic fin just touching anal fin origin, adpressed dorsal fin not overlapping level of anal fin origin (Ref. 57871).
Inhabits fast flowing rocky streams (Ref. 84801).
