Issue
Barbus stauchi may be conspecific with B. rubrostigma, its description was based on preserved specimens and its color pattern in life has not been recorded; in its description of B. stauchi Ref. 83569 did not compare it with B. miolepis rubrostigma, which was erroneously reported having a serrated last simple ray by Ref. 83564 (Ref. 81639).

Dorsal soft rays (total): 11. Diagnosis: mouth terminal; two pairs of well-developed barbels, posterior pair 1.25-1.75x eye diameter; lateral line complete; 23-26 scales in lateral line; 4.5 scales between lateral line and origin of dorsal fin; 12 scales around caudal peduncle; posterior margin of dorsal fin straight; last simple ray of dorsal fin flexible, not serrated; large dark stripe on sides; found in the Loémé River, Republic of Congo (Ref. 81639).
Maximum TL was recorded at 10.6 cm (Ref. 2801).
