Marine; reef-associated; depth range 5 - 30 m (Ref. 30874). Tropical
Indo-West Pacific: Red Sea and Gulf of Oman south to Natal, South Africa and east to the western Pacific where it ranges from southern Japan to Australia.

Characterized by having transparent pinkish body; broad reddish brown band from snout to the anal-fin base; broad dark brown band at the middle of the body surface (Ref. 93839); depth of body 2.7-3.0 in SL (Ref. 90102).
Occurs inshore (Ref. 7300). Rocky and rubble reef, secretive under pieces or in the back of low caves (Ref. 48635). Solitary and cryptic, hides under ledges and rocks (Ref 90102).
