This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: gill rakers on first gill arch, in upper series 38-46 (modally 41), lower series 67-76 (70, 72, 73), total 105-121 (114); gill rakers on second gill arch, in upper series 36-43 (38), lower series 69-78 (70), total 107-120 (107, 111); gill rakers on third gill arch, in upper series 32-39 (36), lower series 53-66 (57, 59), total 88-104 (93); gill rakers on fourth gill arch, in upper series 26-31 (28), lower series 39-52 (45, 46), total 65i-82 (72, 75); gill rakers on posterior face of third gill arch 25-31 (26). Colouration: caudal fin has distinct black tips; lateral body scales have centrally continuous or overlapping vertical striae and with few perforations, no pores posteriorly; black spot on dorsal-fin origin (Ref. 128120).
Found in shallow coastal waters (Ref. 128120).
