Dorsal spines (total): 7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9 - 10; Anal spines: 1; Anal soft rays: 6 - 7. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: interorbital canal normally with pores B’, C, D, E, F, G and H’; preopercular canal with pores M’, N, and O’; temporal canal with pores K’ and L’; scales in lateral series 21-25 (usually 24); usually four transverse mandibular papillae rows (Row 16) on each side (Ref. 116311).
