Distinguished by the following characters: caudal peduncle depth 13.0-13.9% of SL, average 13.35%; second dorsal fin base length 19.1-22.2% SL, average 20.9%; anal fin base length 16.0-18.9% SL, average 17.21%; indistinct orange bands on the head that disappear in preservative; floor of mouth is liberally covered with tiny melanophores (Ref. 77038).
Inhabits cool, clear, fast flowing water in a primary forest at an elevation of approximately 580 m. Prefers quiet sections, protected from direct current, occurring on sand, gravel and rock substrates in 0.5-1 m depth (Ref. 77038).
