Marine; reef-associated; non-migratory; depth range 60 - 80 m (Ref. 9710). Tropical
Western Indian Ocean: known only from Réunion (Ref. 4858, 33390). May possibly occur at Mauritius and Madagascar (Ref. 4858).

Body golden brown to orange with bright yellow spots; head brown, the posterior edge of the opercle dark brown or black; caudal fin and the rear portions of the dorsal and anal fins brown.
Inhabits deep seaward reefs (Ref. 9710). Unknown to the aquarium hobby; its maintenance is probably similar to that of A. trimaculatus.
