Specimens collected from a small left bank tributary of the Mangarahara River (Sofia River drainage), the Ambomboa River (= Amboaboa). Occurs over rock and sand bed with numerous small rapids alternating with quieter pools. Although the Ambomboa and Mangarahara populations currently appear healthy, the apparent restricted distribution combined with ongoing deforestation and erosional siltation within the river basin will inevitably increase stress on the habitat rendering the species vulnerable to future decline (Ref. 33664).
