Distinguished from all its congeners in Balkan Peninsula by the combination of the following characters: lacustrine; size reaches up to at least 60 cm SL; in large adults, head and body silvery, with black spots, especially in upper part, red spots (when present) mainly along lateral line; flesh pinkish. Can be diagnosed from at least Salmo balcanicus and Salmo aphelios by its osteological characters (Ref. 59043). (Ref. 59043).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5000   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.01047 (0.00480 - 0.02286), b=3.03 (2.86 - 3.20), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this Genus-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  4.0   ±0.64 se; based on food items.
Resilience (Ref. 120179):  Low, minimum population doubling time 4.5 - 14 years (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Moderate to high vulnerability (50 of 100).
Price category (Ref. 80766):   Very high.
