Distinguished from all its congeners by the following unique combination of characters: slender body (body depth at anus 11.9-13.5% SL); depth of caudal peduncle 5.5-5.8% SL; extremely narrow head ( head width 17.5-18.7% SL); small and close set-eyes (eye diameter 7-9% HL; interorbital distance 33-38% HL); short nasal barbels (23-30% HL); possession of 35-36 total vertebrae; presence of 1+ 3 gill rakers on the first branchial arch; 5-6 serrae on the posterior edge of the pectoral spine; 8 branchiostegal rays; caudal fin strongly forked with pointed lobes (Ref. 30226). Body brown with 2 dark patches along dorsum at base of dorsal and adipose fins (Ref. 43281).
